In India people say the word ‘expired’ when someone has passed away. When my grandmother in India passed away we had a call from India, and my 14 year old brother picked up the phone and was told that ‘your grandmother has expired’. My brother mis-heard and thought that the caller had said. ‘your grandmother has retired’. So my brother replied, ‘but she never worked’.
