My father-in-law was buried in a natural burial ground. My son was 3 at the time. As we were processioning down to the site, my son was asking who was in the box. When I told him he said loudly, ‘Grandad’s dead. Granddad’s in the box’. Whilst the funeral was taking place he also kept going over to ‘look at Grandad’. There was no confusion or questions asked. As nothing was covered up or disguised there was no ambiguity. He accepted it very easily.
