I’m a solicitor, one of my clients told me this story. Their father had died and wanted to be buried at sea. At the moment that the coffin entered the water everyone was crying, then, the coffin went in and then bobbed back up again. They had forgotten to put weights in. All the ‘guests’ were then leaning over trying to catch the coffin. There was great hilarity. Something that had been so sad became funny. The son said it was the best thing that could have happened, his dad had an amazing sense of fun and also loved a bargain – he got the funeral for free!
